Hello my friends! Today’s blog is inspired by my “day twenty-five” from the book I’m currently reading, “The Purpose Driven Life” By Rick Warren. Side note; thank you for helping me stay accountable 😉
Believe it or not, there is a purpose for every problem you’ve had, are having, and will have. Of course, none us likes to experience pain in our lives, but then again, what if we never did? Wouldn’t this mean that we wouldn’t need God because we’re perfect and happy?
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.” ~Romans 8:28-29
Take a look back into your life and meditate on it. What problem in your life has helped you grow the most?
For me, all of my romantic relationships from my first boyfriend at fourteen to my divorce in 2015, and my broken engagement this past February have helped me grow the most. All of them had one thing in common. I wanted to feel significant, I wanted to feel complete by them, and I worshiped them without knowing that I was doing so. But because my vision for marriage and romantic relationships was far from what it was supposed to be, the end result was failure, pain, loneliness, and feeling unworthy. I couldn’t understand why this happened to me in every relationship. I remember the pain I felt in every relationship I’ve had after our breakups and how i’d cry myself to sleep. How could this always happen to me? Am I not good enough? I’ve even thought, does God want me to be in relationships only to help these men grow?
Truth is, God wanted ME to grow. He wanted ME to change. And honestly, i’m beyond grateful for every single relationship I had to go through. All of the pain had a purpose which was to finally realize that only through God I am complete. He is my bridegroom. He desires ME. And He created me for His divine purpose, not mine. My story in one post
Meditating on God’s word, living it out, and being in community are all important things in order for us to grow into God’s image. This doesn’t mean that life will be easier AT ALL! It means that you don’t have to go through any life circumstances alone.
Trust God, and Do Good 🙂
