There’s No Greater Fear, Than The Fear Of Regret

There's no greater fear, than the fear of regret.

Why is it so easy to become too comfortable in life that we are so quick to convince ourselves not to do something?

Wouldn’t you want to know what could have been if you would have gone for it anyway?!?

There’s no greater fear, than the fear of regret…

Honestly, I think I can be a bit too impulsive. I get a great idea all of a sudden and I want to waste no time and just go for it. At times, I admit, it has gotten me in to trouble. But most times, even if I didn’t achieve my goal, I felt satisfaction from doing what I wanted to do. In the end, now being a follower of God, i’ve been amazed at how He’s used my past experiences, both good and bad ones, for His glory.

But i’m here to admit…

I once again came up with a great idea of a new project that has been in my mind for quite some time. I had pushed that thought away once I “felt” I was no longer passionate about my job. So I though. Long story short, that idea came back a few weeks ago except this time around I feel more fired up about it! I’ve prayed about it, put things into action as far as sketching out my plan, research, window shopping, and people searching.

Here’s the issue though…

I’m still super ecstatic about it, but for some reason tonight I began to feel anxious. I was once again beginning to feel discouraged because I felt that now that I’ve been doing my part then, why is God not answering me? Is it still a good idea? Will He provide me with the income? Will He give me a place and the right people to help me achieve it? What!?!

Strategie for overcoming fear;

  • Remember who is in control. (We only have control over ourselves, but God has the final word.)
  •  Praise God for all that He has done for you in the past. (It helps us remember that He has never let us down and always gives us what we need.)
  • Pray and ask Him to guide you one day at a time. (He gives you peace and guidance when you learn to listen.)
  • Check your motives for what it is you’re going after. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick;who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to the fruit of his deeds.” ~Jeremiah 17:9-10

It’s honestly amazing how much this has helped me through many circumstances. As I was feeling discouraged tonight, I interrupted those negative thoughts and allowed myself to reminisce on all the things God has blessed me with right when I decided to take that leap of faith and go after what I dreamed of.

What are you afraid of? Are you going for it?

Trust God, and Do Good 🙂

    I am pretty impulsive too so I get it! I moved from Georgia to Florida then to Alabama all within a year and a half and soon will be going back to Georgia all coming from an impulse. I don’t regret it at all but it has put me in some interesting positions. I’ve always wanted to start my own business and do what I love on my own, and now I’m doing it and I get anxious about it ALL THE TIME. I have had full blown panic attacks, but I am so happy that I’m doing it. NO REGRETS.

    1. That’s actually pretty cool! I’m glad that you have taken action and gone after your passions. It’s so easy to get anxiety when we want to make a big move. What do you do?
