What are your fears?
Failing an important test?
Not getting your dream job?
Loosing your home and family along with it?
How about regretting something you did or didn’t do?
Your struggle serves a purpose
My biggest fear, due to past failures is, the fear of another failed marriage.
Although I long for relationships and constantly daydream about being at the altar in a; fitted, off-white, lace dress one day, I constantly have nagging thoughts of failing again and living a second divorce. I think about all of the what if’s.
What if I’m not good enough?
What if he also mistreats me and looses my trust?
What if I can’t meet his standards of a “perfect” wife?
All of these nagging thoughts DO NOT come from God. They are thoughts that come from the enemy who wants to keep us from having what God has promised us. The promise of having a life full of joy and peace above all things. (John 10:10)
How do you stop negative nagging thoughts?
“When a strong man, fully armed guards his own place, his goods are safe…” ~Luke 11:21
A strong man prepares himself for any battle with the full armor of god. He builds his house on a firm foundation in order for it to not fall apart. When he does this, (believes and obeys God’s word,) he will be blessed.
Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. RESIST the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.
~James 4:6-8
Humble yourself and SUBMIT to God, and resist the devil on his onset. Negative thoughts will always come into our minds, but God’s word teaches us how to replace those negative thoughts as soon as they come to our minds. He teaches us to think the best of people and to trust the Holy Spirit to guide us.
My personal fear of failing a future marriage, has helped me to continue to study Gods word, and it continues to renew my mind as long as I abide in him. Falling in love with my Bridegroom Jesus, was Gods way to teach me how to fall in love with who He is and what truly matters most in life…
Trust God, and Do Good… 🙂
