Just imagine if we all walked around with a cloud over our heads showing images of what we are thinking every second. That personal cloud follows you everywhere you go no matter who is around. It can show images on what you’re focusing on, or words of what you’re saying in your mind. Would that be fun? Or, would it be embarrassing and insulting to your character?
What’s your focus?
Are you constantly focusing on lustful things such as; unhealthy foods that you know will only bring you weight gain, or even on men or women that have “desirable” bodies that will eventually lead you into immortal sin. Any of these things cause feelings of guilt and are distractions from the enemy to cause you to fail and pull you away from what is worth sacrificing for. THIS is NOT eternal life.
What we choose to focus on is what our moods will be like for the most part. Where your focus goes, your energy flows. And when the enemy cannot destroy you, his job is to distract you.
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him always at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” ~Psalm 16:8
Focus is a huge struggle for many of us, and it’s because we’ve developed bad habits over time. We might do it to “protect” ourselves or to satisfy our “selfish desires.” But, we never thought that the bad things we focused on for so long would bring as much damage to our lives on the long run.
Although we may all be guilty on focusing on the wrong things, it is never too late to renew our minds and change our focus. It’s true, things don’t change over night, but at least you can re-train your thoughts which will eventually change your actions and give you inner peace. But, this is only done by abiding in God who strengthens us and gives us grace.
“And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” ~Galatians 5:24
Bring ALL of your confessions to God and repent of the things that hold you hostage. The things that you used to focus on that you know aren’t pleasing to God, leave them behind and start over. The more you pray for God to set your heart on fire for his word, the more you’ll notice how your character becomes more like him when you lean on him and abide in him.
Focus on the end goal. Eternity is only so far away from what we can imagine. And, life on earth is like a blink of an eye that if we live to satisfy our flesh for single moments at a time then, have we really lived? True joy, peace, and love only comes from God. If we didn’t have Him, then who would we talk to or hope for?
“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. ~Romans 14:11-12
Focus on the Lord, and he will give you wisdom on whats honorable and worthy of praise.
Trust God, and do good…
