Love is one of the most powerful words in the vocabulary, and also one of the best feelings to have. Love endures all things, and love is kind. It makes you feel so alive and fueled to be joyful through any circumstance.
In some instances, it can be easier said than done…
“For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” ~Romans 7:15
As a female barber, I constantly hear many stories of people that cheat and lie to their partners and most times, they get away with it. I cringe every time I hear them speak poorly of their partners and how they feel no regret nor guilt towards what they’ve done. How could this be?
This world has endless sex talks and it is portrayed EVERYWHERE such as in; magazines, billboards, commercials, social media, movies that show WAY too much! It’s become an idol to many people that are hurting deep inside, yet they don’t seem to seek help for an escape to a better life.
“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” ~2 Timothy 3:1-5
Is this not what we see more of in this world lately? So much pain from people that are hurting yet they can’t even recognize it because of lack of real love, or simply because it’s all now so common that it appears to be normal. We see and hear so many tragedies in the radio and tv daily news. Not to mention, all the sexual abuse that is all now finally being brought to attention by so many more that ever before.
The “Me Too,” was something that triggered my past memory to awaken pain from my past sexual abuse. It somehow gave me ten times more fuel to be nearer to God and to share his wisdom to those who want to believe the truth.
“Preach the word; be ready in season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” 2 Timothy 4:2-4
What does love mean to You? Or, to say “I love you” to the person you want to share the rest of your life with. Is it just a saying, or an action? In fact, isn’t that what Jesus taught us as he showed us unconditional love as he suffered for us on the cross? Selfless love is not as common as it should be.
The more I spend time with Christ Jesus, the more I understand his love for me. And the more I understand what he wants for my life here on earth, the more I want to obey his commands, even if it hurts at times…
God IS love…
Trust God, and do good…
