New year, new goals, and new experiences! Everything new is exciting yet scary when we don’t have the knowledge or if we dislike unexpected change.

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame…” ~Romans 5:3-5

God’s ultimate goal with us is to restore our character to godliness. We can pray all we want to have things change in our lives, but the most effective way is by allowing God to reshape us in ways that only He knows we’ll really change.

I remember specific prayer request I made about a year ago or so that I would be changed into a better spouse, a better friend, and a better daughter of God. Little did I know how these things would come about. Within a year, my now finance and I, had split up twice for about two months each time. In the moment I felt so confused and hurt yet now I count those months as painful blessings.

Within those periods of time, I remember how much more dedicated I have become in spending time with God and being more intentional. I noticed that while I was doing this I not only became more goal oriented but also had more faith and hope for the things I had in mind to accomplish. I gained healthier friendships that have similar interests in life. And, my mindset towards finances and marriage have radically changed for better.

“Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like green herb.” ~Psalm 37:1-2

Worry less because God will take care of you! It is easy to get caught up with worldly desires and be tempted by people who do not have similar values as you. But count your blessings and notice how much more peaceful you are by doing what is right verses those who try to get to the same goal through shortcuts that only leave them stressing over feeling guilty and tangled up in an unwanted mess. Honestly, sometimes I feel that we all tend to forget that we are not here for ever, yet we live like there will be an infinite tomorrows to make changes in ourselves.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” ~2 Timothy 2:15

Be bold… Trust God, and do good…
