It truly amazes me how powerful our minds can be especially as we continue to experience many life circumstances as we get older. It’s so beautiful to feel those butterflies in our stomach as we reminisce on unforgettable moments, almost as if we were reliving them once again for the first time. If we really think about it, life is mostly full of fun adventures, laughter, and experiencing new things.
But how about that feeling when you remember how badly someone hurt you? Or even when you felt like a failure and couldn’t accomplish a certain task? Why is it that we still cringe when we hear a certain name or even pass by a certain place that brings back bad memories? We could have been having an amazing day until that one thing that triggered our mind to go back in time and now your whole mood is changed.
You see how powerful our minds are? Our minds are connected to our hearts which is what triggers our mood change. As humans we will never be perfect and we may unintentionally hurt people and get hurt. But if God commands us to not stay angry before the sun goes down is for our own well being. How can we ever move foward in life if we are upset at someone or even ourselves?
“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” ~Ephesians 4:26-17
Controling the mind and learning how to choose our thoughts is very challenging. It takes a lot of dicipline and determination to move forward and renew our minds. But by focusing on the end result and what matters most will definitely be worth the try. Take a look at your surroundings and see how many positive and happy people you surround yourself with. If most of your friends and possibly even family members are negative about life and have achieved nothing but failure, then it might be time to make a change. Ultimately, YOU are the one who makes the choice and the change. If you think you can’t then you have already been defeated. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” ~ Philippians 4:13
“…forgetting what lies behind and training forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus… Let those of us who are mature to think this way,.. Only let us hold true to what we have attained.” Philippians 3:13-16
True wisdom comes from God and it is a personal choice on how to live our lives. One thing I am sure of is that God really does know the desires of our hearts, and if you really want to make a positive change for yourself and help others through it, He will definitely come through. Not once has it been proven to be easy, but through my own personal experience it has been well worth it…
Preaching to myself because I need this too… Trust God, and do good 😉
